There have been a lot of questions about Pete Rose lately. Some of these questions deserve answers, but when you don't know anything at all about baseball, most of them only raise more questions. For example, the question "Does Pete Rose deserve to get into the hall of fame?" inspires the question "Pete Rose? Is he still alive?" I thought the Italians had him whacked when he refused to pay up.
So apparently this jerk did a lot of gambling back in the day. Big deal. Since when is breaking the law a punishable crime? I think the real question is this: which hall of fame should we let him into? The baseball hall of fame, or the gambling hall of fame? A lot of people seem to insist on the baseball hall of fame, but I'm not so sure he deserves that. I mean, since when does being one of the best hitters of all time make somebody famous? The pitchers weren't any good back then anyway. I've seen women's softball pitchers do better than that.
The last I heard (which was also the first I heard, since I try not to pay attention to worthless pointless sports like baseball, soccer, volleyball, synchronized swimming, football, curling, cricket, elk hunting, the triathlon, rowing, bobbing for apples, lacrosse, rugby, and water polo), Pete Rose hadn't issued a formal apology for his gambling. I think that until he does this, the only hall we should let him into is death row.
